Dr. Runyan was a founding member of the quartet and teaches music history at Colorado State University.  He performed on all of the CD pieces except Spillman and Mancini.  He also wrote the CD liner notes.

Dr. Runyan holds the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Musicology from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester, where he studied with Emory Remington and Donald Knaub. A member of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, he is also active as a conductor of ballet and opera, and plays traditional New Orleans jazz with the Poudre River Irregulars.
